About Me

I am a PhD student at the University of Oxford, researching the emergence of imperial infrastructure and indigenous resistance in colonial literature written during the height of the British Empire (roughly 1880 to 1930). Authors I work on include Rudyard Kipling, Henry Rider Haggard, Olive Schreiner, Leonard Woolf to name a few. I'm very interested in the relationship between colonial and postcolonial literature, and the way imperial history during the nineteenth and early twentieth century informs contemporary literature and the world we live in today more generally.
